Notice period for terminating services not equal to notice period for resignation

Can a company give a less notice period to an employee whose services they are terminating and demand a longer notice period from employees when they want to resign? Is there a law for this?

The terms of employment are a contract between the employee and the Employer. The parties are free to agree upon any terms based on their mutual understanding and deliberation, subject to provisions of Indian Contract Act, 1872. There is no law declaring that notice period for termination from employer has to be of equal duration as that of notice period from employee for resignation.
